Manager - Mining

Location: Prominent Hill
Roster: Site base 4:3 roster, including one weekend per month with flexibility to ensure you have the work/life balance you need.

Due to a restructure, we are current seeking an experienced Underground Mining Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager, who will lead our Prominent Hill mining team to ensure the safe delivery and execution of the Prominent Hill ‘23 Business Plan and beyond, as we invest in our shaft future and transform towards our 2030 aspirations.
What we need delivered:
The role will be accountable to deliver safety, volume and cost outcomes from the mining team at Prominent Hill, including:
- Visible safety leadership and quality leadership conversations and behaviours to engage and support our people to succeed.
- Delivering mining activities ranging from capital and operating development, production drilling, blasting and haulage, as well as mine services and backfill, plus surface mining and rehandle.
- Development and excavation of underground crusher stations, shaft infrastructure, ore passes and truck chutes for handover to the project team to enable our shaft future, and then deliver ramp up of underground production.
- Support mobile maintenance activities to focus on planned and preventative maintenance, servicing, with supporting break down maintenance as needed.
- Brownfields interface with the Prominent Hill Expansion Project team, for surface and underground construction activities.
- Working closely with the Manager – Technical Services, for technical and planning support of mining team activities, and integrated mine to mill forecasts.
- Working across an integrated Mining Alliance leadership team between OZL and Byrnecut, including contract management of our major mining contracts and cost control of the mining department.

- Safety leadership skills to work across all teams and areas on site as part of the Site Leadership Team, helping to build a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Modern and adaptive leadership mindset and style that supports future ways of work that navigates VUCA and abstract ideas.
- A focus on improving ways of work and systems to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the mining team and empower people via a structured Continuous Improvement approach.
- Skills and capabilities in project management, data driven decisions, time management and delegation.
- Contract management experience to support collaborative and value adding working relationships with our partners.
- Technical qualifications and leadership in background relevant to the scope. (eg Mining Engineering, Geotechnical or Project Mgt)
- Ability to be a registered Mine Manager within South Australia (or Western Australia).
