About the role

As a key position within the broader HSE portfolio, an opportunity exists for a Workers Compensation Principal responsible for the efficient and effective management of Pacific Nationals (PN) workers compensation claim portfolio in a self-insured environment under the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, ensuring that processes are aligned with current legislative and compliance requirements.

The role will also support, manage, develop and transform Pacific Nationals claims management with proactive return to work and delivery of accurate and efficient claims management in line with best practice principles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively partner with the business and provide high quality workers compensations claims expertise and services, ensuring that service levels are achieved
  • Maintain relationships and communication with all key stakeholders including regulatory bodies
  • Lead claim management and provide strategic advice to internal and external stakeholders in relation to our Injury Management Program in a consistent and effective way
  • Assist the Injury Management team in implementing appropriate and achievable return to work goals, as well as effective case management in relation to our Workers Compensation and Injury Management Program/s
  • Ensure all Workers Compensation activities are conducted effectively and with integrity, in compliance with government regulations and relevant administrative, financial and corporate governance requirements
  • Lead and participate in regular claims reviews with Managers, Insurer, injured employees and relevant external stakeholders
  • Oversee the provision of information for lawyers, independent medical examiners, investigators, scheme agents and rehabilitation providers
  • Develop and continuously improve the Workers Compensation programs that meet the needs of the business and align to the business strategy, plans, relevant regulations and compliance.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have demonstrated experience in workers compensation or claims management in a heavily regulated environment. You will have experience with injury management and return to work programs, ideally managing programs for large scale businesses with enterprise-wide strategies. A strong communicator with good analytical skills, you will also have knowledge of and practical application of relevant work, health and safety legislation as well as workers compensation and insurance scheme frameworks. Experience driving operational efficiencies and process improvement is key to success in this role, as is exceptional stakeholder management skills including negotiation, facilitation and influencing.
