  • Elevate your career as the Project Manager for massive railroad systems modernisation project
  • Innovate within a progressive and supportive environment with next gen technology
  • Shape future strategic direction for essential service critical to the Australian economy
  • North Sydney based, rolling 12 month opportunity

Pacific National is committed to diversity in our workforce and encourages women and First Nations people to apply.

About the role

In order to stay on track technologically in the disruptive world of heavy freight logistics, Pacific National is embarking on the largest transformation of its systems landscape in 25 years. At the centre is a monolithic legacy Transport Management System (TMS) that must be decoupled into domains served by new COTS or purpose-built solutions.

We are seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for helping Pacific National navigate this complex transformation for two key elements, namely B2B and Revenue Management, ensuring we select the most appropriate solutions and introduce them into the working railroad safely and effectively, supporting incremental non-breaking change as a first principle.

The Project Manager – TMS Modernisation is responsible for planning, shaping and delivery of the project, ensuring business and technical requirements are clearly articulated and signed off, procurement of the chosen solutions through a formal RFT process, managing the design, build, testing, change management, cutover and handover of the new B2B and Revenue Management services to the relevant business and IT Support groups.

Engaging with senior IT and Business stakeholders, the Project Manager will lead agile project teams in a hands-on manner, resolving a wide range of project issues and playing a leading role in driving project delivery to the Business through all phases of the project lifecycle.

About you

The successful candidate will be a Project Manager with deep agile project management understanding of large and complex projects who likes to get her/his “hands dirty” and can see the big picture coupled with wanting to help shape the company’s future strategic direction. Candidates will be experienced with legacy system modernisation programs of scale and be accustomed to working in transformative environments.

Operational awareness is critical for this role, and the Project Manager must be able to speak credibly with stakeholders and executive teams about the business implications of technology, using practical “business” language to communicate and articulate all aspects of project execution and delivery. At the same time, the Project Manager must communicate with operational engineers, Dev/Ops squads, solution architects and business analysts about how to achieve desired outcomes. You will have experience in project delivery of cloud-native solutions (AWS or Azure) combined with Prince2 or PMBOK certification and Scrum Master Certification. Experience in the project delivery of the following applications is preferred:

  • API design methodologies
  • B2B
  • Revenue Management (Pricing, Billing and Contract Management)
