Reporting to the Locomotive Engineering & Maintenance Manager, this role has complete accountability for the overall management and performance of major supplier locomotive maintenance contract agreements. This includes contract governance and compliance, financial performance, approvals, and productivity and leading and mentoring a high performing team.

With a current multi-million annual spend across two major suppliers this role will work closely with supplier stakeholders and internal teams to lead the strategic direction, interpret, and communicate scope of services, review end to end process, identify and manage service modifications, resolve service/pricing escalations, and support the maintenance team to execute service offerings.

Technical Accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the service provider relationship overseeing day to day management of the contracts.
  • Lead in the gathering, management, and analysis of data to report on contract performance against KPIs and SLAs
  • Being the single point of contract for all issues in relation to contract compliance and lead the resolution of contractual issues and disputes.
  • Oversee adherence to contractual obligations through effective commercial management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow and flow down of contract amendments.
  • Accountable for safety focus and exceeding safety targets both internally and with external suppliers
  • Manage all disputes as first point of escalation.
  • Foster and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring communication and information flow is managed to an exceptional level.
  • Actively participate and support strategic initiatives.

The role will require an experienced Senior Contracts Lead with extensive experience managing large complex maintenance contracts. Strong communication skills with the ability to develop solid partnerships with suppliers is paramount to successfully working together to achieve desired business outcomes.

In addition:

  • Demonstrable prior accountability for operating and capital budgets.
  • Experience in data systems advantageous
  • Exposure working in a service industry with short turnaround timeframes will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and communication skills to negotiate, influence and resolve conflict within a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Qualifications in Contract Management or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Asset maintenance or engineering experience advantageous
  • Knowledge of supply chain, resource (asset, labour other) planning
  • Intrastate/ interstate travel when required.
