About the role:

The Senior Payroll Officer supports the Payroll Manager in ensuring the company’s payroll function offers exceptional service delivery, with a strong focus on the day to day activities of the team, including managing and prioritising workload. The position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll activities for CitiPower, Powercor, United Energy, Energy Solutions and BAS.

What you’ll deliver:

  • Ensure that payroll is processed accurately on a fortnightly and monthly basis for approximately 2,600 employees.
  • Respond to a variety of employee payroll queries received through the Payroll Portal (Service Now) and via the Group Payroll Inbox.
  • Prepare and remit monthly and annual payroll tax payments to the various State Revenue Offices.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reconciliations.
  • Interpret and advise stakeholders on various Awards, Enterprise Agreements and HR Policies, as they relate to payroll.
  • Proactively identify system improvements and manage such improvements through to implementation.
  • Perform end user acceptance testing for Payroll system changes.
  • Develop system documentation and standards to support payroll processes.


To succeed in the role you’ll have:

  • Significant experience working as part of an end to end payroll function.
  • Experience in interpreting Enterprise Agreements, as they relate to payroll.
  • In-depth understanding of payroll processing and payroll legal obligations (STP, super stream etc).
  • Working knowledge of SAP applications as they relate to payroll (essential), along with Success Factors (preferred).
  • Strong problem solving and data analysis capabilities, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel.
  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, business, or a related discipline (preferred).
