About the Role:

We are currently looking for a permanent Design Engineer to work within our Network Services group.

Design Engineer will be responsible for the provision of engineering expertise as well as scoping, design, and estimating of overhead and underground distribution and sub-transmission projects.

The role is also responsible for minor survey works and asset recording and for the implementation of appropriate policies and procedures with regards to distribution and sub-transmission assets.

What you’ll deliver:

  • Provide engineering and design services for overhead and underground distribution and sub-transmission system projects, as well as substation and station design projects
  • Assist with the development of design standards & policy in accordance with organisational, regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Prepare resource and cost estimates for overhead and underground distribution and sub transmission system projects, as well as substation and station design projects
  • Prepare cost and resource estimates for the design component of electrical distribution/sub-transmission/station system projects in a timely manner and in accordance with Network Services established procedures
  • Consider the commercial/financial implications of all aspects in the provision of products and services to customers in order to maximise profit margins
  • Monitor, review and reconcile time, costs and quality of network designs and ensure unproductive time is maintained at a minimum and all hours worked for are charged accordingly in a timely manner
  • Undertake special projects as designated in accordance with project management principles and ensure delivery is in accordance with time, quality and cost constraints
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge relating to GIS, AutoCAD applications and/or other design and asset recording drafting systems to meet customer requirements

To succeed in this role you’ll have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • Knowledge and experience in distribution, sub transmission and station design principles and procedures.
  • High level experience in customer and stakeholder negotiation.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High level communication skills.
  • Knowledge of all aspects associated with project management
  • Victorian Engineering Registration will be looked upon favourably
