About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Design team based at our Mount Waverley head office in a full-time permanent capacity.

The role itself will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of high quality, efficient and cost-effective design and project engineering services to support the delivery of projects for internal and external clients through proactive design management of complex multi-disciplinary projects. The role will also provide a wide variety of project engineering services including commissioning support, site support and procurement support.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in the electricity industry, particularly involving the design of network assets. In addition, this candidate will have excellent time management skills, highly developed stakeholder management skills and strong project management skills with extensive proven experience in the delivery of engineering design services across multiple projects simultaneously.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage internal and external design resources to deliver desired design outcomes
  • Coordinate the various disciplines as required including Distribution, Primary, Civil, Secondary, Communications and SCADA as a part of design delivery
  • Proactively manage project costs through cost tracking tools, variations, and scope change management
  • Design progress reporting on financial and schedule performance. Reporting will also include reviews of the RFIs, variations, risk registers and Safety in Design actions
  • Lead ‘value engineering’ workshops during the scoping phase to ensure best value for overall project
  • Prepare design offer document in accordance with scope, contractual requirements and in conjunction with our delivery partners
  • Provides assistance with continuous improvement in business and design processes

Required knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • Project Management Qualification (Desirable)
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles, preferably in an electrical transmission and/or infrastructure environment
  • Previous experience in engineering (design) services delivery of multiple diverse projects simultaneously
  • Previous experience managing and liaising with a range of key stakeholders
  • Previous experience in managing project costs, preparing financial and schedule reporting
  • Knowledge of the design process and the design activities undertaken by the team
  • Detailed knowledge of project management principles, including Earned Value Management
  • Knowledge of the electrical distribution / transmission network, particularly design and compliance with Australian Standards.
