Job Summary

Are you looking for or are interested in a long term, temporary, career opportunity as an engineering procurement specialist with expertise in the transmission and distribution industry?

We have a temporary opportunity for an experienced Procurement professional with specialised knowledge and experience in procurement and specifications of high voltage secondary systems infrastructure plant, systems and equipment.

About the role

Powerlink is growing and investing in new technologies and transmission solutions in particular to support renewable energy solutions. Your expertise in electrical engineering is needed to source and procure globally Secondary System Infrastructure equipment such as (but not limited to):

  • Protection, Automation, Control and Metering Panels for substations
  • Buildings (transportable and fixed) to house abovementioned panels
  • AC and DC Auxiliary supply systems
  • Control cable
  • Associated auxiliary equipment and services

In this temporary role you will use your electrical engineering knowledge to secure the transmission class substation equipment and systems we require for a number of large projects.

You will play a leading role in the development and awarding of new commercial contracts for the supply of equipment and services for Powerlink.This will involve everything from the establishment of commercial arrangements and using SAP MM to manage the purchase process.You will also be providing operational support with recommendations on plant and spares recoveries and manage relationships with our key suppliers.

About you

It is essential that you have a degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or a lesser qualification coupled with significant relevant industry experience with Substations and Secondary Systems and associated equipment.

You might have already transitioned from an electrical engineering career to procurement or be looking to do so. What is most important is your experience and understanding in high voltage transmission works, acquired through relevant industry experience.

You are personally driven to use your technical engineering expertise, commercial background and vendor management skills to ensure Powerlink achieve timely acquisition of cost effective, fit for purpose Secondary Systems.

You have a commercial mindset (and be used to communicating and negotiating with suppliers and project teams), experience in managing supply contracts and understand the importance of the procurement process (including SAP MM) for the successful delivery of projects and business as usual outcomes.
