The network extends 1,700 kilometres from Cairns to the New South Wales border and comprises 15,345 circuit km of transmission lines and 147 substations.

Powerlink Queensland manages and operates Queensland’s high voltage transmission network, providing high voltage electricity to over five million Queenslanders and 238,000 businesses.
With exponential growth already underway, we are currently inviting expressions of interest for our Commercial and Contracts Management function for the Copperstring Project. Backed by a $5 billion investment, this is a once-in-a-generation project to rebuild our network backbone.
What is the Copperstring Project?
CopperString 2032 is the largest ever economic development project in North Queensland, and one of the largest expansions to the power grid in Australia.
The Copperstring project will build 840 kilometres of transmission line from just south of Townsville in the Burdekin region to Mount Isa with the highest voltage levels in the state.
This project will further unlock the renewable energy potential of this region.

You will create success by solving complex commercial and contractual problems with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency and ensure delivery to approved contract standards, time, cost and delivery specifications.
To join our new Copperstring HV project delivery team, we’re inviting applications for the following;
- Commercial Managers
- Contract Managers
- Senior Contract Administrators
- Contract Administrators
What you’ll bring
To create success in this role your specific commercial- and contracts management experience in major construction EPC and D&C projects will be essential. Demonstrated experience in large scale civil, electrical transmission and substation, together with professional qualifications in quantity surveying, contract management will be highly regarded.
Minimum requirements for these roles include the following:
- Ideally Bachelor degree or equivalent in Building, Engineering, Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or other associated disciplines, in particular for the senior roles
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Experience in commercial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects.
- Demonstrated claims management experience.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to work to tight deadlines
