The organisation is always looking for the next big thing for our customers, and it’s our responsibility that what the customers get is a high-quality solution that’s been well analysed, tested and iterated to meet their needs.

The role is within the Performance & Reliability Engineering – Technology Platforms team and at Sportsbet we’re looking for well rounded individuals who can look at the bigger picture of performance and reliability, from inception of a solution, to developing test approaches and scripts, running tests and identifying issues and solutions and finally reviewing and improving the performance & reliability of a range of different systems and technologies.

If the thought of helping to build systems to withstand mind numbing volumes and rollercoaster-esque traffic patterns whilst being a performance & reliability evangelist for blazingly quick customer experiences, then this role is for you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Help drive understanding of the various inputs that make up the performance of our systems, from the front-end applications to API services, data sources and infrastructure and everything in between.

  • Develop and maintain the test scripts and code which underpins the various load testing capabilities at Sportsbet
  • Help other team expand their capabilities in the performance testing space by conducting knowledge sharing, brownbag or overview sessions on specific tools, or general best practices
  • Provide inputs into future state deliverables such as infrastructure capacity plans and usage modelling.
  • Identify risks in the physical and logical design of our production and non-production stacks and what mitigations may need to be enacted.
  • Help Sportsbet transition to deliver solutions that are highly scalable, resilient, and recoverable through your design and solutions reviews or testing outcomes.
  • Our capability is all developed in house – help us deliver strong testing and tools capability to empower and assist staff in using those tools from your immediate team all the way to the wider organisation
  • From CI/CD, to cloud capability to data and data visualisation you’ll be expected to challenge yourself to deliver quality code and capability in multiple facets and multiple languages

About You

  • Demonstrated quality coding experience and ability to rapidly adapt to coding in different languages
  • Experience with developing or testing multiple different applications and systems across the full solution stack
  • Proven experience with QA practices including test case development, execution, and defect triage.
  • 4+ years’ experience in performance & site reliability engineering
  • Experienced in performance testing and analysis - Including Gatling.io and Apache JMeter (but we’re open to all!)
  • Experienced in creating or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, especially Jenkins, GitHub and how to integrate testing within a pipeline
  • Strong understanding and experience in *nix based operating systems
  • Experience of APM tools

The Perks

We work hard and play hard, so along with a very competitive salary and generous performance-based bonus, we will also provide you with:

  • 25 days annual leave (a whole extra week of holidays!)
  • Genuine flexible working and remote working policy with an $850 work from home office allowance
