What will you do?

As a Financial Planning & Analyst Business Partner, you will provide total business financial analysis, modelling and insights with a forward looking lens, to support the key decision makers in the business. Alongside this objective the Financial Planning & Analyst Business Partner is also the key finance partner of Target's Corporate Functions (i.e. People & Capability), providing financial insight and direction.

Other key responsibilities will include:

Economic Modelling

Various economic and scenario modelling based on evolving business needs and priorioties to support key decision makers in the business. Applying macro-economic and business knowledge to prepare relevant and insightful modelling.

P&C Business Partnering

Accountable for providing insights and visibility on Target's remuneration spend and partnering closely with the People and Culture team to provide insights and clarity around the drivers while also providing a robust outlook and corresponding decision making in line with the business objectives and priorities.

Financial Forecasting & Budgeting

Lead the monthly financial forecasting process; including managing several stakeholders, applying commercial acumen and business knowledge to pressure test the robustness of the plan and presenting the forecast to the Finance leadership team. Also playing a key role alongside the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in leading the annual budgeting and Corporate planning processes.

Board Reporting

Responsible for managing communications to board paper contributors performed quarterly and ensuring deliverables are received within the required timeframes with clear accountability. Execute a first review of board paper submissions and accountable for writing the Divisional Performance paper.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, or related discipline. Strong previous experience in commercial, analytical, accounting, strategy or management consulting is essential as is excellent stakeholder engagement skills and proactiveness.
We are also looking for someone that is a self-starter, ambitious, and a technically proficient professional who can take initiative. Highly detail oriented with a strong understanding of our Target customer. Ability to lead people with experience and build strong working relationships to achieve objectives and provide sound reasoning to decision making. You are someone who is curious and eager to learn with excellent communication skills, high levels of enthusiasm, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

We are looking for an individual who is highly commercial and strategically astute; can build strong collaborative relationships; and are focused on delivering outcomes.

Skills and experience required:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a business partnering finance role in a large, fast paced organisation
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, advanced Excel knowledge, and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to simplify complex problems and share a succinct narrative to their stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Retail experience as a finance partner to senior leaders is an advantage
