About Your Role

The Software Engineer position sits within our AVS (Avionics) business unit at Rydalmere. As part of our Training & Simulation Software team, this full-time permanent software engineer role is to provide support for a complete project lifecycle in the areas of software solution architecture, design, implementation, integration, test & evaluation and documentation.

  • Perform preliminary and detailed software design on solution components as assigned and guided by the Simulation Solutions Engineering Manager or Software Team Leader.
  • Implement approved software designs in an appropriate coding language and technologies as required, utilising tools provided by a Software Development Environment.
  • Participating in code inspections and design reviews.
  • Supporting system integration and Verification &Validation activities including informal and formal testing.
  • Contribute to appropriate documentation detailing the activities conducted (e.g. design documentation, interface descriptions, unit test results).
  • Support the utilisation of software configuration management processes at departmental and project levels.
  • Participating in software process improvement activities.

How About You?

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven software development experience across different environments.
  • Awareness of software development methodologies, software architectures and best practice.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++/Java and exposure to other high level languages and frameworks (e.g. Python, HTML, CSS, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL)
  • Component Based Software Engineering design experience and modelling tools.
  • Experience in Full-stack development and User Experience (UX) design
  • The utilisation of Databases, SQL, NoSQL
  • Software configuration baseline management experience using Git or other similar source control platforms
  • Experience in containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes
  • The implementation of DevOps for software development pipeline using Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD)
  • Experience with Software Unit testing frameworks
  • Cloud solution deployment and orchestration
