As one of the world's largest toll road operators, Transurban improves connections within our cities to help people get where they need to be.

With responsibility for three of Sydney's critical infrastructure assets, being the Eastern Distributor and the Cross City and Lane Cove tunnels, the Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in keeping our assets operational and our customers' journeys smooth through the effective delivery of maintenance works provided by the core maintenance contractor and the elimination of unplanned disruptions.

Transurban operates in a 24/7 environment and conducts scheduled asset closures for routine maintenance works, typically run overnight. It is expected that the Maintenance Manager is onsite for portions of this time while also being available for any unplanned/ unscheduled works or incidents that might occur on their roads. However, when not required to be onsite, this role offers both flexible and hybrid working.

The impact you'll have

  • You'll lead a team of Field Inspectors who'll act as your eyes and ears across the assets and work with them to resolve issues that arise from field inspections and audits.
  • You'll work collaboratively across the business to continuously improve asset life cycle and maintenance outcomes.

The talents you'll bring

  • An appropriate engineering qualification is desirable, (either Civil, Electrical or Mechanical) and a strong technical knowledge of roads/ infrastructure assets would be advantageous, aiding in your ability to understand technical issues and to make informed decisions.
  • Ideally, you'll have worked with 24/7 operational assets such as utilities, telco, power or water, aiding your understanding of the operational asset environment.
  • You'll bring experience working with maintenance contracts, aiding your ability to ensure the contractor is performing to the highest, most efficient standards.
  • You'll bring strong commercial and financial acumen and a deep understanding of commercial contracts, OPEX budgets and other financials.
  • A strong communicator, you will be at ease influencing a number of parties, both internal and external, in order to gain desired outcomes.
  • You'll have the ability to work nights on planned tunnel shuts to ensure that things run smoothly while also being available for any unplanned/ unscheduled works or incidents that might occur.

The rewards you'll earn

  • We'll make sure you have the tools you need to work smart and live better - including hybrid and flexible working.
  • We'll develop you the way you want, with, training and career planning.
  • We'll help you be healthy with flu vaccinations and mental health support through our EAP and wellness facilities.
