The role of the Senior Project Manager is to lead business development activity and initiatives to achieve business growth and budget objectives for the nominated program or region including CRM, Business Development, Estimating, Commercial and Bid/Tender working together to tender and win new work for UGL. This position will then oversee delivery of the contractually required project outcomes, whilst maintaining or improving planned revenue, gross margin, and cash flow expectations as agreed and documented at contract award, and operating within the limits of delegated responsibility, accountability and authority.


  • Manage work winning activities to ensure long- and short-term budget objectives relating to revenue and market share are achieved
  • Establish contact with potential clients and maintain existing client relationships.
  • Maintain the Opportunity Pipeline and manage opportunities from initial identification, strategy development and pursuit management through to tender preparation and contract negotiation.
  • Ensure tender submissions are professionally accurate and do not expose UGL to risk and reflect the Company’s current market objectives.
  • Prepare and provide budgets, reports, forecasts and related information as required.
  • Detailed review of the project scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements as defined in the project handover documentation, and subsequent initiation and setup of the project baselines within the agreed timeframes.
  • Develop and mobilise a high performing project team and assign internal responsibilities for delivery of specific project requirements.
  • Generation of the appropriate project planning and management documentation as contractually required, and in accordance with UGL project management framework and best practice.
  • Build effective internal and external relationships to ensure open and honest communications are maintained and any problems/concerns are resolved in a timely manner to mitigate impact to project performance.
  • Operate within UGL Project Management framework and its associated processes and procedures across all areas of the assigned project(s) to ensure project key performance indicators (KPI’s) are achieved.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10 years operational experience within the construction/rail industries.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ demonstrable experience in, and sound understanding of, project management in a multi-disciplined construction, maintenance or engineering environment.
  • Experience gained in the rail industry
  • Certified Practicing Project Manager (CPPM) or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Degree or Diploma in an Engineering or related discipline
