About the Role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Employee Relations specialist to work with HRBPs and business managers. This role provides specialist advice and expertise in all ER-related matters. The focus of the role is to ensure the business is meeting legislative requirements whilst aligning with contractual needs. This role will suit someone with strong influencing skills who can create tailored solutions for a wide variety of ER challenges.
Your knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks will enable you to act as Employee Relations subject matter expert and direct your stakeholders through disciplinary processes, consultations, and restructures. You will also contribute your expertise to help HR business partners with a variety of other projects and activities that eventuate in our ever-evolving organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will have strong experience in Employee Relations experience, or have been in a similar Advisory role, ideally supporting regional portfolios. You will need to be a self-starter, focused, flexible, detail-and oriented, and understand that this role will require you to take initiative to build relationships to coach and advise managers to look after their team. A strong, courageous personality and excellent communication skills are key to your success in this role along with the following:
- Previous experience in a similar role in a blue-collar, unionised workforce environment
- Experience in managing employee and industrial relations issues within New Zealand (Australia is a bonus)
- Strong understanding of employment legislation as well as the ability to interpret industrial/collective instruments
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships quickly
- An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
