National Business Development Manager NZ

Location: Auckland

Job Type: Full time

Ventia Pty Ltd

The person who fills this exciting new position will play a very influential role in deciding which opportunities we pursue and in positioning The Ventia Transport business for successful outcomes. We have a number of significant contract renewals coming up in the next couple of years so you will also play a key role in helping us to consolidate existing business. Whilst the role will ideally be based in Auckland, there is some potential for flexibility in relation to work location and hours of work. This role will also provide opportunities for travel around New Zealand

This role will suit an experienced business development manager with a proven record of success in the Transport or Roads infrastructure industry in New Zealand. This role could also suit an experienced operations leader who no longer wants to lead and manage people, but can apply their industry knowledge and connections in a new role. Your exceptional relationship management capabilities will have contributed to your previous success in identifying and converting new business opportunities. You will have a strong understanding of the industry landscape – clients, competitors, subcontractors, and suppliers - and a broad network of contacts across these organisations. You will lead our engagement with client entities and be capable of managing bids, (although for bids of a certain scale you will collaborate with an experienced bid manager and our pre-contracts team). You will also have a strong understanding of asset management in relation to the direction of roads infrastructure development in New Zealand.

The role
You will have a strong understanding of the opportunities landscape and your extensive industry relationships will help you to build a strong project/contract pipeline, with lead times that allow the business to prepare strong responses. You will learn quickly what our value proposition and points of difference are in roads maintenance and construction. Your knowledge of both the pipeline of opportunities and our internal capability will allow you to operate as a trusted advisor in helping our GM to choose the most appropriate opportunities for us to pursue. You will also track and log details of bids and tenders in the relevant information management systems.
