About The Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for building a robust and sustainable pipeline of opportunities over a 1-5 year time horizon that are aligned to the BU, Sector and Business strategy.

The Business Development Manager will be working within our Transport Technology & Rail Services division based in either our Melbourne of Sydney offices.

As the successful applicant, some of your core responsibilities will include:

  • Identify and develop opportunities to ensure profitable growth of the business unit in line with the business unit strategy
  • Develop and maintain sector relationships with current and potential clients to understand the pipeline of work and maintain up to date opportunity intelligence in Salesforce CRM
  • Prepare blue sheets and apply strategic selling methodologies.
  • Develop and implement conceptual selling (emerald) sheets in client interaction
  • Prepare gate 1/2/3 briefing packs and partnering applications in accordance with Ventia business processes and standards
  • Support cross-sector selling initiatives and regional steering committee initiatives
  • Participate in industry events including trade shows, luncheons, award nights…
  • Report on the status of pipeline opportunities through the Ventia CRM (Salesforce)
  • Conduct briefings/handovers to pre-contracts team
  • Lead the development and monthly maintenance of key account plans across Ventia enterprise
  • Track and report on activity for each key account
  • Coordinate periodical key account plan reviews with stakeholders from across the business
  • Identify, track and report on key metrics relating to the health of key account relationships

About You
You will have qualifications in business, engineering or similar accompanied with extensive experience working in the Transport & Roads sector.

You will also possess:

  • A proven track record of networking & developing new and existing relationships
  • Understand clients needs wants and limitations and develop suitable solutions
  • Strategic focussed market analysis of current and adjacent sectors
  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Experience with Salesforce is preferable
  • Project management capability, including ability to manage stakeholders and ensure completion of actions within time and budget
  • Training in any of the following: Strategic selling, LAMP, Conceptual selling, Proposal writing and Negotiating for success (desirable)
