Professional Services Senior Consultants (Automation) focus on the VMware vRealize suite of automation and orchestration products. This product suite provides you with the opportunity to transform the strategic direction of VMware’s customer businesses and includes some of the more exciting engagements that consultants want to be involved in. You will provide assistance and direction to VMware’s clients in order to assist them with design, architecture, implementation, integration and process definitions that will redefine the client’s current capabilities and understanding of what their infrastructure can accomplish.

You will be expected to have an ability to hold technical and business related discussions with stakeholders from various parts of the business. You will use this information to develop an environment that resolves client’s critical issues through automation and orchestration. You will also need to approach engagements that will enable clients to recognize known issues, and to recognize issues that the client isn’t aware of. Once issues have been identified you can provide an extraordinary service by providing benefits that far exceed the clients expectations.


Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Leading design and delivery of Software Defined Datacenter (SDDC) engagements to critical VMware customers regarding process and technology, in support of IaaS, PaaS and DaaS. Delivering high quality engagements to enterprise customers utilizing VMware solutions, with a dedication to high quality results. Engaging with critical PSO customers regarding all facets of IT, including facilities, network, security, systems, strategy and business applications teams as well as service focused teams such as capacity management and financial management. Provisioning leadership in the standard operationalization of VMware products & technologies. Demonstrating past and present skills in a given area of specialization to support technology awareness to customers and colleagues.

Maintaining a deep understanding of competition across product, technology, applications, sales and strategies.


The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You will be working with and using your knowledge in the areas of server, networking, storage and virtualization technologies. Other areas of experience you will work with are:

  • Scripting and programming languages commonly used with VMware products including Javascript, PowerShell/PowerCLI and experience with product APIs such as SOAP and REST.
  • Related VMware Certifications.
  • Infrastructure provisioning process automation and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Server or storage products from HP, IBM, Cisco, EMC, NetApp, HDS, or similar.
  • Systems management including monitoring, capacity, performance and event management.
  • Experience in Architecture or Solutions Design, Operational Support and Business Analysis including:
    • To have a number of years experience in technology roles and/or related experience.
    • To have a number of years experience in enterprise-class IT infrastructure environments including a working knowledge of scripting, networking, storage, facilities and servers.
    • To have a number of years experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services technology or business consultant.
  • Understanding of modern IT Data Center practices and IT business operations across the ITIL service framework.
  • Experience in end to end project delivery including collecting requirements, leading workshops and inspiring change within the customer organization.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • While these roles are Remote we do expect the successful candidate to be located in Canberra to be able to travel to the clients location when required

Your direct manager is based in Australia while the local team will welcome you into their orbit and help you with your daily account activities by providing introductions and account history for our existing customers.


Where is this role located?
Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within a non daily commute of Canberra.

An NV1 Security Clearance is required for this role.
