Service Delivery Executive - Program Director

Within the first 6-12 months, what are the most important performance outcomes expected to be completed for you to consider me successful in this role?

You will partner with the key VMware sales leaders helping them prioritise, plan and execute their business against FY24 priorities. Your primary business partners will be the Enterprise Sales Team and the Customer Experience and Success (CXS) Team and will also have direct daily interactions with key customer stakeholders.

What type of work will I be doing? What assignments or requirements will I be performing on a regular basis?

As a member of the Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) Professional Service Strategic Customer Program (SCP) you will work with the VMware Melbourne team to implement strategic banking related programs that will specifically focus on executive coverage and business impact.

You will also partner across sales, services, strategy and marketing to understand customer priorities and requirements, and provide execution muscle to the team to enable our customer to take advantage of VMware capabilities. You will work closely with account executives and business units from across VMware to regularly review key customer engagement programs, identify gaps in offerings and recommend solutions.

As a Service Delivery Executive (SDE) operating at a Program Director level you will be focused on a key banking customer and will be involved in the strategic direction of multiple IT Projects/Programs working closely with project sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned program managers. The right candidate earns trust through outstanding performance, effective communication skills, and a strong record of delivering results. They will have excellent project management skills and experience managing complex programs in large organisations. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with executive customer stakeholders and deliver independently on both strategic and tactical program initiatives. Strong judgement and a demonstrated ability to influence without explicit authority are key to success.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with VMware field sales, pre-sales architecture and delivery to understand our customer’s needs, their business, how success is defined.
  • Possesses a deep knowledge of project management best practices and how to apply them in an effective yet pragmatic way across large, complex enterprise projects.
  • Seeks to solve customer business problems with existing programs and innovates to build new initiatives where there are no existing ones
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking and demonstrate understanding of requirements to execute.
  • Plays an active role in individual customer engagements for specific programs - driving teams to achieve customers’ business outcomes by managing issues, risks, decisions, and action items.
  • Takes proactive steps to ensure teams meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Works effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

VMware is hiring an experienced Service Delivery Executive that shares our passion to help our customer build and modernize their platforms and underpin a Single Information Environment. To excel in this role, you should possess extensive solution architecture and technical expertise, strong business acumen, and have the ability to clearly communicate at all levels with the customer. You will be a SME on finance industry processes and will have hands on experience working with these. You will work with customers and internal stakeholders to architect delivery of solutions, proof of concepts or pilot projects to make our customer successful.

The hiring manager is Craig Brown, Director – CXS Strategic Customer Program (SCP). Craig has been at VMware for 13 Years and in that time has performed various senior leadership roles. With a background and passion in project/program management Craig brings practical hands-on experience to his role and ensures that the high performing individuals in his team are provided the support they need in order to be highly successful.

Where is this role located?

Melbourne. Work will be done from VMware’s offices some days of the week, some days may be from home and other days from customer locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Project and Program Management Certifications
  • Senior Program Management experience selling and/or delivering significant change/transformation including hands-on experience leading cross organization programs.
  • Experience driving large initiatives with banking industry customers
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to impact & influence key stakeholders
  • Experience working with broad groups of stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Experience managing multiple projects at the same time, and navigating competing priorities and goals
  • Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
  • Experience presenting metrics and progress against goals to senior leadership
  • Demonstrable experience of working closely with operations and program functions to establish optimum solutions to identified risks
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with a strategic orientation, as well as an aptitude for solving complex business problems
  • Ability to resolve ambiguity or conflict situations to bring teams and business groups into alignment; proficient in taking complex/technical subject matter and refining/presenting to the business at any level to result in understanding and appreciation
  • Technical problem-solving and analytical skills and escalation management in a complex environment
