You will lead and manage a small team of category professionals and provide centre-led Category Management services for one or more high value, complex and/or strategic procurement categories to ensure Water Corporation maximises the commercial, risk, and safety benefits achieved from third-party supply arrangements.
What the role will offer
Leverage your considerable category management experience to develop sophisticated sourcing strategies in consultation with Contract Owners and key stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporation goals and objectives.
Develop Procurement Plans through consultation with key stakeholders to ensure market intelligence, requirements, and a plan for success are clearly documented.
Work with technical subject matter experts to grow your understanding of business process value chains and operational methods, and translate this knowledge into outstanding commercial outcomes.
Exploit your knowledge of cost inputs, key indices and economic data to ensure sourcing strategies and pricing reflect local, domestic, and international markets.
Provide stewardship of source-to-contact, and post award supplier and contract management in consultation with key stakeholders
Develop category risk treatment plans through monitoring and assessment of contract, supplier, market, geo-political, and supply chain risks to ensure residual risk ratings are within Board risk appetite.
Key skills and experience
You’re a strategic sourcing and category management expert with leadership experience and success in supply market research, preparing commercial strategies, taking complex requirements to market, and leading high value negotiations.
We are looking for someone with a strong procurement or strategy background with demonstrated achievements in people management, sourcing strategies, implementing plans, programs, systems, and change initiatives.
Ideally, you’ll have a degree-level qualification in business, and experience in post award contract and supplier performance management for complex commercial arrangements involving large and sophisticated national and international 3rd party suppliers.
Prior experience with category management of chemicals, fuels, transport and logistics, and/or waste services is desirable but not essential.
