Our Australian Recruitment team has a terrific opportunity for a Recruitment Advisor with a passion for early careers programs to join the Whitehaven Coal business and work across our east-coast operations. Initially engaged on a 6 month full time fixed term contract period, you will be working with an amazing team of Recruitment, HR and Ops professionals. You’ll support the delivery of our Graduate, Internship and School Based Traineeship programs for the regions and assist with other portfolios in the business.

You will have the opportunity to influence our attraction and selection practices and build on existing relationships with local tertiary institutions and industry organisations. Most of our graduates come from an engineering or science discipline, but we also recruit for health & safety, environment, commerce and other business disciplines.

With a blend of both remote and office based work, we’d like you to be based out of either Newcastle, Sydney or Brisbane locations. Regardless of your location, you could also work from one of our many regional offices from time to time should you be travelling for work or personal reasons.

What will you do in the role?

  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders to understand requirements for Whitehaven Coal’s graduate, internship and school based traineeship campaigns each year
  • Actively engage with University Careers Services teams, student clubs/societies and other networking opportunities to engage with students, including a selection of schools
  • Recruiting graduate, school based traineeship and internship talent into the business, aligned with Whitehaven Coal’s diversity programs
  • Work with an experienced and highly supportive team across the east-coast – we chat regularly & support each other
  • Influence the future direction of these critical programs.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previously held in-house (ideally graduate) recruitment positions, with a passion for candidate experience
  • Experience with ATS platforms
  • Has strong communication and presentation skills comfortable in delivering in-person and virtual information sessions for students
  • Values inclusion and knows how to attract and select graduates from diverse backgrounds
  • Is a self-confessed brand ambassador who is eager to elevate Whitehaven Coal’s employment brand with students in our regions
  • Is prepared to travel to our regional site operations as needed.
