The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with Xero’s product and technology teams and providing legal advice and support in relation to Xero’s global product and technology strategy. This role will report to the GM, Legal - Product & Technology and work closely with the wider Legal team, and external advisors
What you'll do
Provide legal support on a variety of product and technology projects and strategic initiatives, including through encouraging collaboration among project team members, working with other global and in-region legal team members and external counsel to advise on and resource projectsDrive efficiencies and alignment through implementation of streamlined processes with a focus on processes and tools that foster collaborationPartner with product and technology teams to drive cross-functional engagement, especially with other legal sub-teams such as IP, regulatory/privacy, and M&AConnect across the business to support the wide range of product and technology projects and related strategic initiatives that Xero pursuesCoach and mentor junior members of the legal teamEnsure that the business is informed and compliant with any relevant existing or proposed legislation that may impact its product and technology activityEngage with product and technology teams to become fluent in your understanding of what drives Xero’s current product offering and tech infrastructure as well as Xero’s product and technology roadmapContribute to internal policy and process developmentSupport the delivery product and technology related matters as part of M&A activityLiaise with and manage Xero’s external legal advisors as required for product & technology projects
What you'll bring with you - experience
6+ years post-qualification experience supporting and advising businesses on general commercial matters as well as product advisory (in-house legal experience desirable)Law degree (strong academic results)Current practising certificateExperience providing product advice to companies in the technology sectorExperience with a global companyExperience with fintech or financial services a plusExperience with data use issues for cloud-based services a plus
