Job Description

As the Electrical Technician, you'll be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery in a laboratory environment based at our Discovery Drive site. Using computerised systems, you'll oversee routine maintenance and organise repairs. You'll also be involved with control and monitoring devices and occasionally in the sourcing of components that will help in maintenance.

Your role is vital to the efficiency, development and progress of all lab and office facilities on site, and there is an increasingly critical component around lab equipment maintenance which you will help to develop as part of a small technical team. Working with other professionals, you'll improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.

Primary plant includes Building Management Systems, Motor Control Centres, Fixed Wiring and Small Power, Lab equipment and instrumentation, Small Power Installations, Inspection and Testing.


Experience and working knowledge within...

  • electrical and electronic engineering
  • manufacturing engineering
  • mechanical engineering
  • production engineering.

C&G 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations, or the City & Guilds 2391, 2394 and 2395 qualifications and/or, the EAL Inspection and Testing and Initial Verification qualifications. Current Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (17th Edition), and either Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations, or Level 3 Award in Approving Electrical Work in Dwellings in Compliance with Building Regulations.
