Job Description

The EHS Manager will work within the UK EHS team ensuring that EHS standards are maintained and continually improved to ensure that legal compliance is never compromised. The EHS Manager will be the site safety lead for the laboratory and logistics departments. as well as working successfully with the UK EHS Manager across all aspects of EHS for the site including site EHS projects. This role will be integral in the development and maintenance of an integrated EHS management system and document management system in line with requirements of ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.

It is important that the individual has up to date knowledge of relevant laboratory safety legislation so that they can provide technical expertise in hazard areas including: Fire & DSEAR; chemical safety; Cryogens and pressurised gas; LEV & PPE; work equipment. The EHS Manager will manage the emergency response for areas such as Fire, Spill or gas response.

The EHS Manager will manage the site EHS monitoring systems such as the internal inspection and audit systems, near miss and accident investigation and collection of environmental data to support Abcam’s sustainability initiatives. This will aid the identification of EHS trends and development focus areas and support strategy to prioritise targeted site progress.


You will be approachable, proactive, deadline driven and care about the well-being of others. You will have experience within a scientific/laboratory environments where people have reported into you. You will be able to work successfully with site stakeholders to assist in decision making that benefits both the business and employees.
