About the Team

This is a talented global Cloud Foundation Team, responsible for building and running a platform that empowers product teams to efficiently build and run highly scalable and secure products, significantly contributing to the revenue of Adaptavist's cloud apps.

The platform is highly scalable and handles, on average, 10 million requests per hour in the US region alone. As a senior software engineer in this team, you will contribute to and lead engineering best practices to guarantee the reliability and scalability of this platform.

We practice continuous integration and delivery. You will be shipping to production daily, getting fast feedback with monitoring and metrics, and improving to ensure the platform continues running smoothly. You will act as a mentor for other engineers within the team to perform code reviews, discuss designs and work together on technical problems.
You must also collaborate with tech leads and a technical product manager to discover requirements and work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders from product teams to investigate and resolve production issues to maintain our service level guarantees

What you'll be doing

  • Engineering
  • Own and drive new functionality from discovery, design, implementation, and testing to
  • deployment and monitoring.
  • Build and manage our microservices and infrastructure that runs on AWS.
  • Investigate problems, identify root causes, fix and document issues, and implement
  • preventive measures by working closely with the consumers of these services.
  • Analyse logs and metrics for performance and behaviour to identify and solve issues before
  • they start impacting the platform.

  • Team
  • Act as a mentor to other engineers within the team to perform code reviews, collaborate on
  • technical designs and problems
  • Collaborate with engineering teams at Adaptavist to see how we reuse technical solutions
  • or approaches across teams
  • Research and introduce new approaches or technologies into the team where appropriate.
  • What we're looking for

  • Strong development experience in serverless and micro-services oriented architecture with
  • extensible REST APIs.
  • Experience building on a cloud platform (ideally AWS)
  • Strong understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed systems
  • Good working experience in either Java, JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills
  • Experience with using CI/CD to deliver software
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience in debugging production issues to resolve them effectively
  • Willingness to learn (particularly Java if you're not familiar with it already)
  • A few nice to haves

  • Experience building technical platforms.
  • Experience building and maintaining infrastructure in the Cloud using infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
  • Any DevOps experience
  • Atlassian ecosystem experience
