Enterprise Data Governance and Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization. EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities.

The Omnichannel Data Solutions (ODS) team is responsible for enabling seamless access to data and functionality across all channels, markets, and lines of business at American Express. Our colleagues create and lead innovative, scalable data access capabilities to power the world’s best customer experience while maintaining the highest levels of security and compliance.

Within ODS, the Strategy and Enablement team is responsible for defining and enabling unified, consistent access to data and associated solutions. Leading with a customer-first vision, our focus is collaboration – ensuring data architecture, processes, and guidance are aligned across all parties as we partner with Enterprise colleagues to bring critical experiences to our customers.

We are looking for a Senior Analyst to support the development, socialization, and execution of our core strategy, whilst focusing on portfolio planning and oversight across our platforms. This role will be responsible for looking after strategic planning and operations, working across ODS team, our enablement frameworks, and with our Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) partners. This requires a motivated, self-starter who can bring organization to a complex product development and prioritization landscape, as well as support effective partner engagement through the development, management, and distribution of associated portfolio planning and operations collateral. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is proactive and enthusiastic, looking to further their career in an engagement-centered role focused on data and cutting-edge technical solutions. This role will report to the Director, ODS Strategy & Enablement and will be a key player in various complex projects driving both internal and external customer objectives across our global business.


  • Support strategic planning, the development of new enablement frameworks, intake/engagement models, and the development of cross-portfolio oversight and operations within ODS
  • Along with the Director of Strategy & Enablement, ODS Product Directors, and their teams, define and manage cross-program plans and roadmaps, and support external management and distribution of plans
  • Build relationships with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) partners and support alignment of ODS enablement frameworks and planning methods with the needs of wider Enterprise portfolio planning to articulate roadmaps and scheduling
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager of ODS Strategy, develop and maintain core assets for ODS strategic planning, including informational documents and/or hubs for partner engagement
  • Support enablement framework distribution methods and required tooling
  • Act as a point of contact across stakeholders to provide ongoing ODS planning and operations guidance and support
  • Monitor and collect key stakeholder input to inform ODS product operations, planning, and roadmap development

Required skills:

  • Experience in digital project/program management, operations, portfolio oversight, administration, or enablement – ideally supporting existing data and/or consumer-facing product(s)
  • Knowledge of Agile tools and methodologies, including lean portfolio management
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, easily understood collateral for communication across a wide breadth of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to be comfortable with white space and manage through ambiguity - ability to solve problems through innovative and creative thinking
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; persuasive and ability to influence decisions and drive results without direct authority
  • Experience building and sustaining effective relationships with business partners and colleagues across a matrix organization
  • Proactive analytical skills with a keen eye towards implications on strategy, planning, and capability impacts
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and optimize resources to achieve goals
  • Flexibility to work and manage business partners across multiple time zones
  • Driven, collaborative, self-motivated, and able to act with a high level of independence
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
