AstraZeneca’s is undertaking a strategic review and preparation of its activities in Treasury, Banking, Vendor and Customer data to support end to end cash management processes that apply across the entire AZ Group. This will also support and prepare AZ for planned migration to SAP S4 HANA. To support these various projects, we have an opportunity for a fixed term/permanent contract based in UK or Poland. The outcome of this initial project and its successful support and implementation may lead to a longer term career opportuinities for the successful candidate.

Working within a collaborative team the activities the overall project intends to cover include:

  • Provide input and planning of implemententation of solutions to provide simplified and bank agnostic connectivity and data exchange, providing greater flexibility and efficiency in global cash transaction processing

  • Determining the markets, approach and system solutions deploying payments on behalf of (POBO)/virtual accounts and rationalising bank accounts

  • Increasing real time visibility of global cash

  • Modelling the historical impact of how different FX rate setting and settlement periods would have impacted the group P&L and hence recommend the appropriate hedging strategy in the future

  • Assessing the impact of any proposed change on group wide processes, information requirements and systems across all Finance areas

  • Performing gap analysis of the current position to the proposed end state and developing a high level implementation plan

The broad project team will comprise existing AZ staff across Global Data Office, Treasury, Banking team and IT, supplemented by contractors, consultants and software vendors. You will be expected to be responsible for leading a number of the activities within the cash and banking and vendor payment and O2C process areas. The role requires the individual to have a deep experience of working in high volume, high value business-to-business and intercompany banking in a global corporate environment with strong understanding of end to end cash management and banking arrangements as well as having good attention to detail, intuition and decisiveness. Additionally, a structured approach and excellent organisational and communication skills are of paramount importance.

The O2C team is providing global support to the AstraZeneca Group. This role provides an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the group Finance function of a leading global FTSE company.

Role and Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the validation and impact assessment of proposed changes on Cash & Banking and O2C areas

  • Liaise with other members of Group Finance Services “GFS”, Group Treasury and broader finance to ensure alignment with their activities and communicate changes as necessary

  • Ensure the GFS team, in particular cash & banking and O2C, is kept up to date on the progress of the project through regular reporting and feedback sessions

  • Preparation of banking master data and data transmitted and received from our banks

  • Ensure all process and system dependencies are identified and captured appropriately

  • Ensure the key deliverables are achieved in a timely manner

  • Change, develop and update existing and new processes throughout the projects

  • Assist with the preparation of presentation material to the project Steering Committee

  • Challenge existing processes to drive continuous improvement/automation

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Deep knowledge and 5 years + experience of high volume, high value business-to-business and intercompany banking in a global corporate environment

  • Experience of delivering on similar transformational projects

  • Self-starter with the ability to provide the project vision and structure the key deliverables and timeline

  • Focus on delivery and able to work accurately and decisively under pressure to meet project deadlines

  • Ability to communicate at all levels within and outside the organisation, capable of managing stakeholders to drive a change agenda to delivery and benefits

  • Team player, able to work under pressure in a busy environment and adhere to strict deadlines

  • Demostratable knowledge and understanding of SAP FICO, host to host integration solutions and various formats including API

  • Experience of FIS software including Trax and Quantum

  • Experience of Kyriba software including Payment factory

  • Knowledge and experience of working collaboratively and closely with major global banks via customer relationship managers and technical support teams

  • Demonstratable experience in delivering process improvement e.g. Lean, Six Sigma

  • Experience of working with Shared Service Centres and / or Business Process Outsourcing partners and as part of a diverse global project team

  • Excellent spoken and written English and the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
