In this role, you will support antibody discovery and protein sciences to deliver our next-generation biotherapeutics portfolio in the Oncology therapeutic area, focusing on Tumour Targeted Delivery. In this role, you will craft, lead and conduct laboratory projects/experiments, develop methods, and generate, interpret, and report scientific data. You will also contribute to identifying and developing ground-breaking technologies that benefit biologics drug discovery and have a proven track record of creatively solving scientific challenges.

What you'll do

  • Design, express and purify antibodies and proteins to enable therapeutic biologics drugs projects in Oncology and BioPharma R&D. The particular focus of the work will be on Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), RadioImmuno Conjugates (RICs), and other antibody/protein-based therapeutics.

  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary research drug discovery/technology project teams, effectively communicating forward-looking recommendations and contributing to project team decisions based on their findings, the findings of others, and factors from outside the company

  • Establish internal networks and collaborations within scientific field of value to the business and present data at internal (intra- and inter-departmental) meetings

  • Demonstrate solid interpersonal communication by establishing good working relationships with team and department members and others within the company

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD with relevant experience or BSc/higher degree with equivalent lab-based experience

  • Solid experience of designing and producing engineered protein constructs with a deep understanding of structure-function relationships

  • Strong technical skills in molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, and protein expression and purification

  • Expertise in bacterial and mammalian expression systems, AKTA-GE purification systems, and protein characterization techniques.

  • Excellent communication, capable of developing good working relationships with individuals across organizational boundaries, and experience working within a team environment

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Background in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience in antibody engineering, next-generation biologics development for oncology, e.g., multi-specific mAbs and ADCs/RICs

  • Experience in bioconjugation

  • Experience with in-vitro biochemical characterisation assays, such as SPR (Biacore) or BLI (Octet), and functional cell-based assays

  • Experience with stable cell line generation
