We have an exciting opportunity in our Data Science and Quantitative Biology Department as a Senior Statistician based at AstraZeneca in Cambridge, UK.
The team is made up of passionate statisticians, bioinformaticians, machine learning specialists and image analysts. We are part of the Discovery Sciences function that applies deep technical expertise in specialist technologies to support the delivery of targets and molecules to the early AstraZeneca pipeline. We work collaboratively towards a common goal, pushing the boundaries of science, by applying our quantitative skills to complex biological problems to deliver new medicines to patients.

What you will do:
You will play an important role by applying your statistical knowledge to drug discovery projects in a variety of collaborative project teams. The role needs you to innovate and be comfortable approaching problems with no known solutions.
As a Senior Statistician you will work with a problem-solving and perceptive approach to:
Identify and deliver solutions to address key biological questions using quantitative approaches
Build and internalize appropriate algorithms and techniques to answer biological questions
Develop and implement statistical learning models
Drive and lead projects
Engage with external collaborators via publications and presentations
Essential in the role:
Solving ambitious biological problems through partnerships motivates you. You are a specialist in your field, and you know that the best results are achieved by using the strengths of every individual.
You should also have:
Great interpersonal skills and be an agile communicator who can explain complex statistical methods to scientists with different levels of statistical knowledge.
Experience in data analysis and knowledge of some of the following areas: experimental design,DOE, linear/nonlinear models, Bayesian methods and statistical modelling.
Programming experience with tools such as R, Shiny, Julia, Stan or similar.
PhD or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, data science or similar.
