Introduction to Role:

Join AstraZeneca, a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, as a Senior Scientist in our Chemical Development department. We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist to specialise in the integration of electrochemistry into the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing process. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of the pharmaceutical industry and tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing modern process chemistry.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Scientist, you will lead and manage electrochemistry research projects, establishing AstraZeneca as a leader in the use of electrochemistry for API manufacture. You will design and conduct experiments to develop new electrochemical processes and technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, stay current with industry trends, and analyse experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions.

Essential Skills/Experience:

- A PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or BSc/MSc/MChem with relevant industrial experience to an equivalent level.

- Demonstrated experience in the practical development of electrochemical reactions with experience in the scale-up of these processes.

- A good understanding of practical synthetic electrochemical and analytical electrochemical techniques.

- Expertise in continuous chemistry and high through-put experimentation.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to innovate in a fast-paced environment.

- Effective communication and leadership abilities, with coaching and mentoring experience.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

- Experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment is a plus.
