Avanade is looking to rotate the current technology leader for one of it’s largest Healthcare engagements. The role will be dedicated with an engagement term of up to 2+ years. Working alongside and, after a suitable period of familiarisation, replacing the current Chief Architect by March 2023 at the latest.

As the Chief Architect for one of the largest healthcare platforms you will have a critical leadership role ensuring workplace collaboration services are delivered to over 1.6m healthcare workers. Whilst viewed as a Modern Workplace and Device platform, the role of the Chief Architect spans multiple domains including Security, Application Development, Integration and Infrastructure.

You will be a domain specialist with experience gained very much from the customer side and leverage this in becoming a trusted advisor to the customer, and critical member of the program Senior Management Team. Ideally, you will have experience in healthcare and real world architecture and delivery knowledge in enterprise scale platforms and services.

Set the architectural direction, working closely with the programme team to define, contract and deliver new capabilities onto the platform on a continual basis.

Support your TA team in managing the major engineering workstreams of the programme, ensuing that solutions are rapidly developed and deployed to a defined commercial outcome.

Additionally, you will be responsible for contributing to the long-term technology strategy and solution development of the platform working with teams outside of the immediate delivery programme to evolve our service.

  • Core Responsibilities:
  • Overall accountability for the architecture of the platform and live service
  • Lead the TA team, 14 TAs across 6 different workstreams: Office365; Identity; Email Security; Modern Devices; Infrastructure; App Dev (Portal) & Power
  • Lead design and build of new services and solutions typically with a focus on non-OOTB approaches (off the shelf rarely works)
  • Support the Avanade Client Account Lead in achieving the sales and revenue targets of the account
  • Foster a workplace environment consistent with the vision and values of Avanade.

Your technical and non-technical skills include:


  • Lead architect needs to be versant with all the above technologies, but if weighted on one area it would be Infra and Security.
  • Must be able to work at the coal face, when we have live service issues the expectation is the whole TA team supports the platform
  • Good client and interpersonal, is expected to interface from senior TA to program leadership and directly with the client
  • Excellent personal leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstratable Industry experience
  • Technical & Commercial skills, the experience of helping clients create a business case for change
  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership experience
  • Participating in high growth, highly demanding, 'best people' environment.
  • Consulting or project-based background, including implementing large, complex projects.
