Job Title: Senior Risk Advisor (SHE)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the risk cells, which as subject matter experts, maintain the apex risk assessments for our high hazard activities
  • Plan and lead the adoption of new SHE suite risk management module and assist in retiring legacy risk management apps
  • Subject matter expert for quantitative risk methodologies applied to SHE problems including Monte Carlo
  • Lead and coach in a variety of new for us & existing risk assessment techniques
  • Collaborate with other risk managers within the business including corporate
  • Lead delivery of objectives driving improvement in SHE risk management
  • Develop and maintain a suite of measures demonstrating the health of SHE risk management (Key Risk Indicators)
  • Application of Bayesian statistical techniques to SHE problems
  • Working with others maintain the SHE risk register
  • Contribute to reports communicating the SHE health of the business
  • Introduce new risk management ideas into SHE such as SIPmath, metalogs, causal diagrams and Monte Carlo analysis

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in proactive use of risk management process and techniques
  • Experience working within either a risk centric discipline or a SHE function
  • Degree level education in a STEM subject or equivalent experience

Desirable:

  • Familiar with or willing to learn Bayesian statistics
  • Membership of the IRM or IIRSM with a willingness to gain full membership
  • A recognised SHE qualification/risk management qualification
  • Experienced with the development of risk reporting and presentations to stakeholders

Our SHE function:

As a Senior Risk Advisor (SHE), you will be involved in one of the most exciting engineering programmes in the UK, providing professional and accurate risk management analysis, reporting and advice to the teams working to construct and deliver Astute and Dreadnought class submarines.

We need new and creative risk management solutions applied to SHE and you will help us to do that. Application of the best risk management ideas from other disciplines and using latest digital tools will be central to this. Ultimately, we want to be able to focus our resources efficiently in risk mitigation and have high confidence in our assurance work.

You'll be working within a diverse and complex business as part of a flat team following agile processes and patterns and reporting to the Head of SHE – Central. Over time you'll gain a breadth of knowledge across various areas of the build and or non-build delivery organisation whilst providing an opportunity to develop risk management skills and experience in a high hazard environment.
