Job title: Project Controller - Technology

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering defined work packages / tasks to cost / schedule / quality targets
  • Monitoring and reporting project / programme performance for schedule, technical, financial and quality objectives
  • Supporting bid preparation for new task / project proposals
  • Setting up and maintaining project schedules (MS Project)
  • Leading problem-solving sessions to pro-actively overcome project issues
  • Establishing & maintaining customer / supplier relationships maintaining regular communications & managing expectations
  • Taking responsibility for achieving customer satisfaction
  • Proactively managing risks and opportunities to the benefit of the work packages / tasks
  • Ensuring that work packages / tasks adhere to the BAE Operational Framework and Life Cycle Management standards.

Your skills and experiences:


  • Experience in an administrative support role and/or project management related role
  • Knowledge of scheduling, cost management, and risk management
  • Working experience of MS Project


  • Formal project qualification would be an advantage e.g PRINCE2, APM
  • Experience of SAP

The Land UK and Technology Development team:

BAE Systems Land UK collects a unique combination of experience, knowledge, tools and processes to deliver world-class products and next generation systems technology. We have a proven track record in supporting military forces in operational environments, providing ammunition solutions to markets around the world.

The Technology Development team is responsible for conceiving and delivering a range of small but vital projects that focus on both the introduction of new technologies into the Industry and applying novel approaches to existing manufacturing challenges.

Being responsible for the management and execution of the projects the team is measured by the successful completion of milestones to cost and quality targets. This is achieved by working with Technology, Engineering and Operations to scope and then monitor the progress of projects and where required lead problem solving activities to allow swift resolution of issues, or escalation to the Technology team management for further support.

The role will require interaction with both customers and senior members of the team, and as such the Project Controller will be able to communicate across all levels and demonstrate an understanding on how their tasks link to the wider Heavy Munitions objectives.

Through the business reporting structure, the Project Controller will maintain and prepare data from the various business project control systems. These regular reports enabling progress to be shared both with both internal and customer stakeholders.

As a Project Controller you will need the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. You will be flexible with the ability to embrace ambiguity and have a desire to learn and use new toolsets.
