Data Analyst

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base and we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £ 42,540 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conducting data quality analytical techniques in order to identify patterns of activity and conduct root cause analysis
  • Collaborating with peers to implement effective automation processes to enable data to be minded for quality control and accuracy
  • Compiling a suite of metrics for Maritime Services ongoing internal data quality and compliance
  • Contributing to setting standard for definition, security and integrity of Maritime Services Internal data objects
  • Ensuring internal data compliance with all technical strategies, policies, standards and practices
  • Supporting and promoting the development and sharing of specialist knowledge and best practice within Maritime Services

Your skills and experiences:


  • Well-developed skills and capability around the creation, understanding and presentation of business data analytic solutions utilising a combination of COTS toolset and ability to present findings in an effective manner
  • High understanding of the various corporate analytic processes, tools and techniques
  • Understands industry best practice external to the business


  • Ability to interpret results from complex analysis then present outputs to stakeholders with different levels of technical understanding
  • Able to work individually, or as part of a team, with limited guidance needed from seniors

The Business Services team:

You will be a vital member of our Data Team working alongside Business Services. Business Services covers all Maritime services, from radars to repairing ship and you will be responsible for the data quality analytics.

They are a centrally based team with a very wide scope, for example, working with underwater weapons such as torpedoes.
