Job title: Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Preston. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements

Salary: Up to £63,000 depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading a team, including people management of a team of engineers & analysts
  • Collaborating with SOC in an Engineering capacity, Operations and Service Owner teams throughout the project lifecycle. This role is not a SOC Analyst/User
  • Reporting on the health of the estate
  • Providing daily support to business functions, end-users & team members
  • Problem solving (above 2nd line level) and resolution of issues with 3rd Parties
  • Providing knowledge transfer to team personnel as well as other colleagues in the business
  • Analysing, testing and documenting deployment strategy of the infrastructure
  • Creating programmatic documentation, standard operating procedures and granular process checklists

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Proven people management and or team leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of architecture and configurations/underlying security technology of large-scale enterprise networks (30,000+ devices)
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of installation, management and support of network cyber security infrastructure/toolsets and ITS management, such as endpoint protection, SIEM, vulnerability management, firewalls, IDS/IPS (Next Gen), network architecture (Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.)
  • Experience of working with system management toolsets in a technical capacity

Desirable

  • Engineering knowledge of Splunk & McAfee/Trellix
  • Qualified to CCNA/CCNP level or equivalent, or relevant Security certifications are desirable but not essential
  • Background of prior experience of information/cyber security (Government or commercial sector)

The Cyber Engineering team:

The team is expanding to support internal customers such as SOC and operations. The role is within wider Enterprise IT team and provides enterprise IT services across the UK businesses and internationally. Within the team there is a focus for continuous improvement in IT performance and operational efficiency, as well as enabling agile and flexible IT services for the digital age. You will ensure the security, confidentiality, integrity and availability of our digital estate.
