What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide an intelligent interface between Dreadnought Sub-system teams and SMEs on queries for Naval Architecture, Materials, Operating Environments and Signatures & Airborne Noise.
  • Advise TA/dTAs on interpretation and acceptance of Non-functional requirements to ensure the delivered solutions meet the specified contractual and regulatory requirements

  • To undertake peer reviews or checking / verification tasks as directed.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Non-Functional Engineering strategies, policies, guidance and awareness.
  • Provide regular updates on project status/progress in accordance with project specific reporting cycles.
  • To contribute to identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
  • To articulate and present complex technical argument clearly, logically and simply.
  • To actively participate in Customer or industry led working groups/forums for specific transversal areas.
  • Proactively working with stakeholders to ensure successful acceptance of Dreadnought Combat System Subsystems for your responsible transversal areas

Your skills and experiences:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Working towards or willing to work towards chartered engineer status.
  • Experience of requirements management
  • Some experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
    • Naval Architecture
    • Signatures & Airbourne Noise,
    • Operational Environments, understanding of Def-Stan 08-123
    • Material selection (Metallic and Non-Metallic).
  • Role requires strong communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.

The Specialist Engineering Services team:

Reporting into the Principal Engineer - Non-Functional Lead within the Dreadnought Specialist Engineering Service (SES) team. The purpose of the role is to support the verification and validation for the Dreadnought Submarine Combat System. The position provides system engineering and specialist support to Combat Systems in several key non-functional areas. The SES team supports several sub-systems throughout the project lifecycle, from Invitation to Tender through to final acceptance with the customer.
