Job Title: Functional Engineering Manager

Salary: Up to £56,300 (dependent on skillset and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Foster and maintain a key link between the programme responsible for and the Engineering function
  • Actively manage the development of engineers and maintain appropriate development plans
  • Establish an optimum deployment of engineering resource to support Naval Ships projects
  • Act as a point of contact for Engineers, in particular with respect to engineering functional issues
  • Contribute to the development of training strategies for the Engineering population
  • Responsible for quarterly input and agreement of IRP / long term forecasting for own programme area
  • Nominations for promotions and progressions within Engineering as and when appropriate

Your skills and experiences:


  • Understanding of engineering with the ability to manage stakeholders and be first point of contact
  • Ideally degree qualified in a relevant technical, science, engineering or business discipline, or equivalent education gained through work experiences


  • Membership of a relevant professional institute
  • Experience within Recruitment support, Talent Management and/or Retention strategies

The Functional Engineering Team:

This is an excellent opportunity for Functional responsibility within the business, supporting the iconic Type 26 Project. You will have the ability to implement new ideas and fresh thinking into our team suggesting alternate strategies from other business sectors and industries.
