The Team

At Deliveroo we’re striving to build London’s best engineering organisation.

We’re dedicated to building a collaborative and supportive culture. We set goals and objectives and offer advice. We empower our engineers to find solutions to problems at great scale. We trust them to use their time wisely.

Our teams are solving unique and difficult problems at scale in an energetic and hyper-growth environment. We’re growing incredibly quickly and we need experienced technical managers to help us scale.

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who can build and lead at a group level by managing, mentoring and coaching Managers and ICs operating across all our platforms and product areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage a Site Reliability Engineering group to elevate the operations of systems and services across the organization
  • Become the go-to leader for operational health and incident response at Deliveroo
  • Drive the strategy and goals for a new site reliability engineering org, enabling them to partner with the overall engineering organisation and elevate incident management
  • Take ownership of the all-up operational health of our services
  • Grow a highly-skilled, self-organising group of managers, gaining fantastic exposure to scaling a tech organisation at a unique pace
  • Be accountable for maintaining and scaling our systems through headcount and forecast planning
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and act as a mentor for engineers and up and up and coming leaders
  • Own the improvement and implementation of processes and values that scale effectively
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers building and deploying large-scale projects internationally
  • Collaborate with other senior stakeholders across the engineering organisation

Requirements:

  • Proven operational engineering leadership skills, preferable at a senior manager level
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Background in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Production Engineering
  • Experience managing stakeholders across Engineering and Product
  • Deep knowledge of distributed system design and operation
  • Experience collaborating and problem solving with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Desire to be hands-on while being a senior leader of the tech org
  • Experience mentoring and building a motivated and effective team
  • Experience setting goals and objectives to ensure your team is set up for success
  • Passion for collaboration, problem solving, and execution

Life at Deliveroo

We are a growing team, with very large impact, seeking to answer some of the most interesting questions out there. We move fast, we’re always looking for new ideas and we’re very transparent about the decisions we make and why we make them.

There are so many questions we need to answer and plenty more we haven’t even encountered. How do data and technology help restaurants to grow as consumer habits change? How can we predict what someone wants to order for dinner long before the idea has even crossed their mind? At Deliveroo these are just some of the tough problems we are solving - and there is no challenge that cannot be yours. No solution is owned by a particular team, which means the scope for growth and personal impact is enormous.

Benefits and Diversity

At Deliveroo we know that people are the heart of the business and we prioritise their welfare. We offer a wide range of competitive benefits in areas including health, family, finance, community, convenience, growth, time away and relocation.

In 2018 we announced our decision to give every employee equity in the company. We did this because we wanted all of our employees, regardless of location, level or role to be owners and because we believe that this is the right thing to do. We believe this helps build a culture where everyone is committed and able to share in the company’s success.

We believe a great workplace is one that represents the world we live in and how beautifully diverse it can be. That means we have no judgement when it comes to any one of the things that make you who you are - your gender, race, sexuality, religion or a secret aversion to coriander. All you need is a passion for (most) food and a desire to be part of one of the fastest growing start-up’s around.

You’ve got this!
