The Head of Planning and Reporting is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's planning, forecasting, and reporting functions. This key leadership position ensures that the organisation's financial and operational performance is monitored, analysed, and communicated effectively across all levels. The role requires a strategic thinker with a strong financial background who can lead a team, optimise resource allocation, and deliver actionable insights that drive business performance and support decision-making.
Day to day duties:
- Lead and manage the planning and reporting team to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial and operational reports.
- Develop and oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Prepare detailed analysis of financial data, trends, and performance indicators, presenting insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide strategic guidance on financial planning, ensuring resources are optimally allocated across projects and departments.
- Monitor the performance of key business initiatives and help identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments, including finance, operations, and sales, to provide consolidated and accurate reporting on company performance.
- Drive the implementation of effective reporting systems and tools to enhance data accuracy and visibility.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in planning and reporting activities.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, providing relevant reports for external auditors and stakeholders.
- Act as a key point of contact for all planning, forecasting, and reporting-related inquiries from leadership and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of planning and reporting professionals.
- Extensive knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting practices.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modelling, analysis, and reporting tools (Excel, ERP systems, Business Intelligence tools).
- Exceptional ability to analyse complex data and present it in a clear, actionable format for senior leadership.
- Proven ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in data handling and reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyse situations, and implement effective solutions.
- High level of business acumen with a deep understanding of financial performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field (required).
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent (preferred).
