Iress is one of Australia’s largest technology companies and employs more than 2,300 people across Asia Pacific, North America, Africa and UK & Europe.

Role Purpose

Are you passionate about software engineering and cloud technologies? So are we!

We're looking for Talented Engineers to join us and help us to deliver our technology platform strategy as we continually evolve our approach to transform and empower our engineering culture.

We're aiming to provide greater speed, scale, quality and autonomy to our engineering teams and we are architecting and delivering this through a combination of poly-cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, devops principles, micro-services, API development, SaaS adoption, and use of emerging cloud technologies.

Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Delivery of platform services and capabilities that enable speed, scale and quality within the delivery of our products and services

  • Promotes relevant reuse or consistent patterns for cross-platform, cross-product services

  • Recognises opportunities to promote existing product-centric capabilities into shared platform capabilities

  • Owns and operates services and capabilities where relevant

  • Provides technical advice and expertise in the use and adoption of platform capabilities

  • Finds better ways of achieving goals, with a view to future technology trends, whilst ensuring existing technology and clients continue to prosper and incrementally evolve.

Core Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

We're looking for forward thinking engineers with a specialism in application development who have a strong knowledge of distributed microservice architecture and event streaming. Preferable tech stacks include; .net, Java, Micronauts.io and Python but we’re open to the tech stack you’ve worked with, although it would help if you’re somewhat of a polyglot. Experience of running applications in kubernetes and kafka is also an advantage.

You will be part of a global team taking an Iress-wide perspective in your daily work. You will have the ability to think across diverse business domains, be able to communicate ideas, inform others and have a client-focused mindset.

Central to this role will be your ability to work effectively with other teams within the widerEngineering group, including technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your technical expertise will be called upon by other members of our engineering community to ensure the quality and reusability of our code and ultimately our end solutions continue to delight our customers.

Dedication to applying DevOps concepts (e.g. CI/CD) to improve the software delivery process is important to us too, and you’ll need to be well versed in Cloud technologies (ideally AWS but Azure or GCP is okay with us) and associated infrastructure-as-code technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer etc.).

Why work with us?

  • Competitive base salary

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and 6 additional paid days off per year to extend your weekends

  • Global opportunities to work with other Iress teams

  • State-of-the-art offices, with free on-site gym in our Cheltenham office open 24/7

  • Casual dress, flexible work policy

  • Access to various learning and development programs, including Udemy

  • 3 days’ leave per year for charity initiatives

  • Global 36-hour hackathon

  • Up to 26 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary carers (up to 4 weeks for secondary carers), and the ability to work part-time when returning to work
