Department Description

With exponential year-over-year growth of data generated, strong Data Governance, including Data Quality, is critical to ensure clean, fit-for-purpose data. The CIB Chief Data Office (CDO) is responsible for defining and implementing the Data Management strategy to create an industry-leading data environment.

The program scope continues to evolve and encompasses cultural, behavioral, procedural and systemic transformation aligned to the full range of businesses (such as Markets, Securities Services, Payments, Research and Banking, and Reference Data). CIB CDO offers a unique perspective into the role of data in the financial industry, partnering with a variety of stakeholders across sub-Lines of Business (LOB), Corporate Functions (CF) and the Firmwide Data Management (FDM) organization.


The successful candidate will join a team focused on delivering business impact through transformation of Data Quality management. The role will require working with stakeholders across the CIB, other LOBs and CFs to ensure fit-for-purpose data, looking to leverage best practice across the industry and other J.P. Morgan business units.

This role provides an outstanding opportunity at JPMorgan Chase for the selected candidate to join a high-profile team and take a partnership role, supporting one of the Bank’s most significant change programs.

Key roles and responsibilities

Working within the Data Quality Transformation team, contributing towards the following:

  • Design, delivery and implementation of the CIB DQ Strategy & Operating Model and associated training & tooling
    • Contribute to the design, delivery & implementation of the DQ Strategy & Operating Model
    • Liaise with CDO teams & sub-LOB stakeholders across the CIB to develop DQ in context of the wider data governance process, e.g., data ownership, data sourcing, data lineage and metadata management
    • Document requirements for the design & development of tooling solutions
    • Development of required training content, utilizing a variety of mediums
  • Design and manage processes for collecting and producing key reports and metrics
  • Support dashboard developers in design and development of key dashboards
  • Collaborate with Firmwide Data Quality team as required to achieve objectives and further the strategy
  • Continued advancement of the Data Quality program
    • E.g., explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (i.e., machine learning) to assist in accomplishing Data Quality Issue Management

Skills Required

  • Understanding and experience of Data Governance principles would be advantageous
  • Basic understanding of the company's business practices and familiarity with the company's products and services
  • Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing large data sets in Excel (pivots, formulas, charts, etc.)
  • Capacity to think laterally and convey an understanding of the big picture
  • Strong practical experience of Microsoft Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentation decks), Word, etc.
  • Technical skills, e.g., VBA (MS Access/Excel), would be advantageous
  • Exposure to tools/technologies such as Alteryx/Tableau/Qlikview would be advantageous
