The SMB & B2C Technology Team in JP Morgan Payments is focused on providing innovative, end-to-end solutions for our large e-commerce clients and over the next 3 years, we will rationalize our existing products and services on to a single, highly configurable, friction-free platform. As a senior member of our architecture team you will have the opportunity to drive design and make architectural decisions that impact the strategic direction of the platform.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Work in close partnership with Senior Technical Leaders and Product Owners to understand and translate business, software and information requirements into strategic platform designs
  • Have oversight of a number of e-commerce applications, including information security architecture or application design and development needed to efficiently fulfil demands of multiple stakeholders
  • Define strategic technical and solution direction that supports complex financial and non-financial use cases
  • Provide supervision and guidance to development teams.
  • Assess the business impact that certain technical choices have.
  • Drive the design, development, and support of business-critical systems
  • Form excellent working relationships with all involved teams at various levels of seniority
  • Expand your technical and financial knowledge by working on a variety of projects and systems
  • Continually research current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.

Skills/Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, software engineering, computer science, or related field
  • In-depth understanding of coding languages (Java 1.8 and above, Spring Boot, Apache Tomcat, REST or RPC, microservice based architectures, JSON, JS, 12 factor builds)
  • 5+ years of practical experience working in an Agile environment
  • Significant experience in defining and executing on solution architecture vision on large, financial projects
  • Active and motivated self-learner with the ability to develop deep domain knowledge of the payments business and the intersection with B2B and B2C marketplaces
  • Excellent analytics skills that enable you to translate product demands in to current and target architectural designs
  • Experience partnering with business analysts and technical leaders to help translate architectural designs into stories, use cases, and specifications by example focusing on the minimum viable product
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication across all levels
  • Strong Influencing and motivational skills
  • Ability to manage own day-to-day workload, and ensure delivery to required deadlines

Desirable:

  • Exposure to the entire Small and Medium Business financial lifecycle
  • Ability to visualize requirements where needed in the form of wireframes, business process diagrams (e.g. Microsoft Visio, Excalidraw, Lucidchart)
  • Ability to analyse large data sets for patterns (e.g. JSON objects, Excel, SQL)
  • Knowledge of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence products
