Developer Community Outreach Engineer (DevRel)

The Application Integration and Streaming Product Line builds and sources tech products or private and public cloud for a huge internal market of 50k developers and thousands of apps. Products include streaming such as Kafka and Kinesis, messaging like IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, SNS and SQS, large scale file transfer, ETL, full text search, API gateways, OpenAPI dev tools and more.

The Product Line is starting up a Developer Relations function, and looking for a hands on DevRel Engineer who can help improve our internal developer experience. That could be by improving the product documentation on our central Engineers Channel, adding tech primers and tech labs to get people using products quickly. Or sitting down to code with developers at an internal event, or help a team get public cloud products deployed using Terraform.

You'll be an on the ground developer advocate for us, and also bring the ideas, frustrations and needs of the wider developer community back to our product teams and product owners.

You'll have a good record of software engineering, and demonstrated empathy for customers and an understanding of what modern effective software development looks like, for example use of CI/CD, infrastructure as code, agile practices. Public Cloud experience on AWS is essential, and the candidate would be expected to achieve at least AWS Developer certification.
