Control Management (CM) maintains a strong and consistent control environment across the firm. With Control Managers appointed for each Line of Business, Function and Region, there is a comprehensive coverage and joint accountability model with the business executive that promotes early operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk. The role will be part of the Corporate & Investment Bank Central Control Office Management (Regulatory Commitments / NBIA / Independent Challenge Teams)

The CIB Independent Challenge team has two roles:

  1. Performing a quality review process for the Product Service Change Management (P/S CM) which is aimed at mitigating the risk of incompleteness in P/S CM initiatives through independent review and validation
  2. Participating in a formal independent challenge (Keys) for significant regulatory and internal audit issues and APs impacting the CIB business prior to business closure of issues. Additionally, per Business’s requests, conduct an informal and independent challenge of the CIB P/S CM draft notification letters related to the OCC CFR 17 permissibility.

Role Responsibilities:

P/S CM Quality Review:

  • Performing a Quality Review process from end to end, including developing testing strategies, executing testing, and analyzing results
  • Participating in an implementation of a strategic approach for the QR process including reporting and escalation; ensuring a successful BAU is established
  • Assisting in the process of enhancing the CIB P/S CM program Operating Model

Independent Challenge:

  • Participating in prep sessions for CIB Keys (Keys is a formal, cross-functional Governance Committee where Primary LOB/Function Owners present evidence and supporting documentation of issue and action plan completion to senior managers across CIB)
  • Assisting in an independent challenge during prep meetings with senior stakeholders from various business/function areas
  • Collaborating with management on key tactical improvements to the Keys operating model; ensuring objectives aligned with business
  • Performing x-LOB HS Audit issue analysis with issues impacting CIB; identifying groups responsible
  • Per business’s request, assist with the independent challenge of the CIB P/S CM draft notifications related to OCC 12 CFR 7 permissibility

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Provable years of relevant industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of the broader financial institutions landscape, ideally the candidate will have an understating of products and markets in which the CIB operates
