Control Management (CM) maintains a strong and consistent control environment across the firm. With Control Managers appointed for each Line of Business, Function and Region, there is a comprehensive coverage and joint accountability model with the business executive that promotes early operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk. The role will be part of the Corporate & Investment Bank CM – Program team.

The role has multiple components, the primary one being a Program Manager coordinating effective governance of a skilled person / regulatory review. Part of which entails the regulatory remediation of JPMs product and service changes in relation to operational risk. This leadership role requires management and oversight across the remediation design and execution; including presentations at steering group meetings, execution of the book of work and collaboration between the business, controls and supporting functional organizations.

Additional roles include, supporting Product / Service Change Management which is responsible for supporting new, expanded, and modified product/service changes across the CIB. This includes the New Business Initiative Approval (NBIA) program established to provide a consistent framework to assess risks of material products/services changes before they are launched.

In addition, establishing a leadership position in the Bournemouth location for both Product / Service Change and Regulatory Commitments. Including local management of staff and administration.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Execution:
    • Manage regulatory inquiries by engaging directly with program management office and often external parties. Coordination with business, compliance and operational risk colleagues to deliver efficient and controlled processes based upon regulatory recommendations.
    • Plan and implement 1st LoD operational risk assessment for JPMs new or altered product and services including remediation of completed items and implementation for new initiatives
    • Presentations at steering group meetings, execution of the book of work and collaboration cross-lines of business
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborating with product / service change team, external consultants and working group to design and implement change
    • Engaging Business partners to understand implications of regulatory change to new products/services and ensure initiatives can flow through program optimally
    • Partner with Functional and Controls teams to ensure engagement is aligned to existing and imminent changing of expectations/needs

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant years of professional work experience
  • Project and process management skills, including proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to succinctly communicate complex issues
  • Ability to forge strong internal relationships across a broad range of businesses, functions and regional teams
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; effective at critical thinking and attention to detail; Ability to work autonomously
  • Knowledge of the broader financial institutions landscape, ideally the candidate will have an understating of products and markets in which the CIB operates
  • Emotional and social intelligence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to work autonomously
