JPM Payments Liquidity & Account Solutions (L&AS) is a product organisation that delivers advanced solutions for clients to manage their global operating liquidity and provides a range of account services that support the varied client business models and needs. Our product set operates globally in real-time to support our most complex clients as they manage their liquidity and funding needs across legal entities, geographies, currencies and time-zones.

Within L&AS, the Business Development & Innovation team focuses on driving the innovation and transformation agenda, at a global level. Given the accelerating pace of innovation-led business development in the industry, we require evolving competencies and the ability to front-load the monitoring and evaluation of new ideas and the associated experimentation, without disrupting current plans and absorbing capacity from executing them.

The team has a role vacancy for a VP to lead initiatives involving emerging technologies and digital assets in order to develop market strategies and execution plans which will broaden and deepen the range of value propositions offered. The role has a strong commercial focus, requires an effective cross-functional team engagement and involves a broad and diverse portfolio of initiatives driven both by key strategic client relationships as well as by emerging and developing industry themes. Its scope revolves around the origination of a pipeline of innovative ideas and applications and the articulation of the business or product opportunities arising from product/industry gaps, customer needs and regulatory and/or technology developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop rich understanding of the JPM Payments L&AS product suite, including drivers of revenue, capabilities relative to industry/customer needs and current business priorities
  • Acquire a robust understanding of market dynamics across the regions – competition, regulatory changes, emerging client requirements and product needs across product segments
  • Articulate novel ideas that can transform the business and enhance client relationships and complement the broader business strategy; research and validate external offerings by traditional and non-traditional players
  • Assess the operational and commercial viability of promising ideas – developing commercially sound use cases and business economics
  • Structure new products and services through creative usage of pricing, customer integration/interaction models (e.g. API’s), existing JPM Payments capabilities, emerging technologies (e.g. Blockchain) and enhancements to core technology capabilities
  • Partner with JPM legal, tax, compliance and treasury professionals to identify regulatory/funding constraints and validate new product concepts
  • Champion the approval of new products and services though JPM’s New Products/Business approval processes

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Must be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience in strategy, business development, innovation, research or banking
  • Relevant experience required in Transactional Services, Cash or Liquidity Management
  • Direct experience in digital assets and new digital domains is an advantage
  • Demonstrable strategic and creative thinking, as well as problem-solving, analytical, data analysis and presentation skills
  • Track record of strong partnerships with key stakeholders, and especially of execution credentials with ability to influence
  • Creative & curious thinker who is appreciative about ‘non-traditional’ solutions to meet business/customer needs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to combine multiple complex ideas into coherent written end-products
  • Team player with ability to develop strong relationships across functions and seniority levels in a large matrix organisation
  • Fluency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Market and product knowledge is an advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree in a business or technical field preferred

This position is based in London, with flexibility for occasional travel. The right candidate is likely to have experience working in strategy, business development, innovation or product development within a fintech, bank, big tech or strategy consulting firm.
