As a Tax Controller, you will be responsible for day-to-day quality assurance review, participating in cross functional meetings, providing guidance and consultation to data owners. Moreover, you will collaborate with our stakeholders and management to ensure quality performance is monitored, communicated, and implemented in accordance with firm wide policies and standard operating procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the business process and procedures and execute test plans that align with business procedures and system workflow
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of data set up at client onboarding, withholding and reporting stages for tax and reporting purposes
  • Communicate and confirm the test results and discuss results at a detailed level as well as in summary for Executive audiences
  • Understand root cause for the errors and potential impact
  • Work with members of the Tax and Client Onboarding team on inquiries on tax withholding and reporting rules (covering Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and EMEA local taxes)
  • Work with Tax Ops and Client Onboarding to track remediation of identified errors and Continuous Improvements Initiatives
  • Interpret firm policies and compliance requirements for incorporation into company systems/procedures
  • Work with Tax Operations and Client Onboarding to track remediation of identified errors
  • Actively participate in calibrations with the supervisors (emails/calls) and articulate findings, analyze disputes, and escalate when needed (make proposals of resolutions, calibrate with the Areas of responsibility (AOR)
  • Document and deliver information regarding due diligence rules for client identification, documentation, withholding and reporting
  • Develop/suggest ideas to improve Programs (e.g. checklist) or business processes, for instance based on analysis of the number of downgrades
  • Actively participate in the annual program reviews and share ideas for improvements
  • Additional responsibilities may include supporting program expansions and other improvement assigned by management which may include assistance with process transfers, partner communications, maintenance of quality agreements, among others.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field or other field with equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of financial principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of German, Italian, French, or other European Tax (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI), Common Reporting Standard (CRS) including CRS due diligence and reporting principals and requirements (desirable)
  • Experience with business applications supporting AWM Private Client portfolios (strongly preferred)
  • Attention to detail and diligence
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of multicultural teams across various time zones
  • Proficient in organizing, priority-setting, and issues management
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management and leadership skills required
  • Teamwork and collaboration expertise
  • Highest level of professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency
  • Fluent in English and German or Italian, French is a plus
