As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Payments team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

You will be working with a talented team of engineers building the UI solutions for the next generation payments platform.

Job responsibilities

  • Work with a global team to develop the Graphite UI Operations Workstation.
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Development of new software and enhancements to existing software.
  • Develop unit tests and end to end tests using frameworks like Junit, Jest, cucumber & selenium
  • Ensure technical documentation accurately reflects software components developed and delivered
  • Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality / time to market imperatives
  • Providing technical support for Production Implementations, and post-implementation support during implementation warranty period
  • Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Proven hands on experience in JavaScript, HTML/CSS and a JavaScript framework React/Angular/JQuery, Java 17, Spring Framework, web services, micro services (REST), hibernate, RDBMS (Oracle), cloud technologies e.g. Kubernetes, EKS
  • Strong focus and discipline on ensuring quality through automated tooling and CI/CD
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability concepts and tooling e.g. Splunk, DynaTrace
  • Experience in fine tuning application response / performance testing. Experience in using tools like JMeter/JProbe etc.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Exposure to cloud technologies including AWS
  • Hands on experience in using build automation tools like maven or gradle
  • Distributed messaging experience such as Kafka
