Our Building Claims team is growing and we are looking for a Building Claims Consultant to join our Bournemouth/ Birmingham team.

About the Role
Working independently, you will manage building claims as well as any associated contents claims. By using building construction, repair and pricing expertise you will negotiate settlement with the customer and/or their appointed building contractor
Providing support and advice to Home claims colleagues on more complicated building cases that they are managing, and be responsible for claims which require more building reinstatement or repair.
Working with our customers who wish to use their own trades person to repair damage to their property, taking the time to understand what has happened, and what matters to our customers and the details of their claim, as well as the outcome they are seeking
Analyse evidence, including photos and video footage, to confirm whether there is cover under the policy and identify any elements that may not be covered.
You will then be responsible for assessing the extent of damage using your knowledge of Building claims to scope all necessary reinstatement work. This will require you interpret and solve complex building problems, analysing options and making recommendations
Working closely with our wider Claims team when you identify a Recovery opportunity..
Applying your building claims knowledge to scope all necessary reinstatement work on valid claims whilst considering the feasibility of repairs. This will include the preparation of priced repair schedules.
Additional responsibilities include:
Proactive management of our customers claims ensuring that every opportunity is taken to progress the claims to the furthest point Ensuring individual claims costs are being managed and within control
Use of negotiation skills when working with our customer’s own tradesman ensuring any cash settlements agreed are fair Responsible for settling valid claims at the earliest opportunity
Listen to our customers and explain the options available whilst understanding their preference before cash settling, instructing the LV managed contractor or negotiating the scope and cost of repairs with the customer’s own building contractor
At times act as a referral point across our Home Customer Claims department sharing knowledge and best practice including, mentoring, coaching and surgeries on all property repair and building related claims
Build and maintain excellent relationships across the wider claims department.
Identify areas of opportunity and improvement in our ways of working as well as our suppliers.
Understanding Insurance, claims or building knowledge is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a high level of organisation
Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including competent letter writing with the ability to produce a letter that is clear, precise and grammatically correct.
