Lloyds Bank Corporate & Institutional Coverage (CIC) is an origination and coverage business operating across the UK and North America. The business leads with a sector and relationship focus, whilst maintaining UK regional delivery through hubs in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Trade Director to join our Infrastructure, Energy & Industrials team based in London. This is a leadership role which will include pipeline reporting, dissemination and execution of the Product strategy.

You'll need to be an experienced dealmaker who can develop, manage and drive business performance in order to successfully challenge in our chosen sectors and deliver annual income, holistic working capital solutions and asset/volume targets in line with agreed business plans.

You'll develop deal teams that include product specialists and the CIC Relationship Management teams ensuring best practice methods to deliver common objectives and financial performance.

You'll evaluate industry, market, customer competitor and regulatory trends to ensure that identifiable risks and opportunities are defined and developed in order to deliver the appropriate response that protects and develops business benefits to the Group.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively manage product relationships within the portfolio of existing and agreed target clients, with a specific focus on supporting UK exporters. Identify customer needs to develop, structure and review proposals to meet customer requirements. Recognise opportunities to develop further income and economic profit, recommending and implementing the appropriate solutions meeting Group risk and profitability requirements and aligned with Coverage Relationship strategy.
  • Prepare and submit credit applications in conjunction with Relationship Teams, aligned with defined strategy and engage with colleagues in product, sales support and risk as appropriate.
  • Develop, implement and complete client sales and product relationship calling plans.
  • Act as client point of contact for all transactions for Trade Sales, with the ability to discuss technical and operational aspects of transactions
  • Identify product gaps or new product opportunities to influence the development of key new product service initiatives and more efficient delivery channels
  • Ensure customer treatment and other regulatory requirements are met and follows Regulatory policy to protect and enhance the banks reputation
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and related product partners to drive alignment in strategy to maximise the opportunity for Lloyds Bank, while ensuring adherence to Group strategy and policy to protect the bank
  • Support the active management of the trade portfolio as required

Essential skills and capabilities:

  • Consistent track record of delivery and technical understanding of Trade and Working Capital products
  • Experience at managing, originating and selling to Trade relationships with CIC/MNC clients
  • Proven success in Trade Sales and Business Development
  • Knowledge of risk profile and regulatory treatment of Trade and Working Capital and associated risk and portfolio management practices desirable
  • Strong financial acumen, knowledge of budgets, economic return principles and capital treatment
  • Ability to lead client product relationships and develop strong and productive internal networks
  • Sound commercial, technical and risk based decision making capability, within delegated authority or with referral to appropriate partners

Desirable skills:

  • Post graduate economic, finance and or management qualifications
  • Institute of Export – Certified International Trade Advisor or equivalent
